Slow-cooked pork shoulder with BBQ sauce and pop creates tender, flavorful meat for easy meals and get-togethers.

# What You'll Need:

→ Meat

01 - 8-pound bone-in pork shoulder roast

→ Liquids

02 - 1 cup soda (cherry cola preferred)

→ Condiments

03 - 28 ounces barbecue sauce
04 - 2 tablespoons seasoned salt (e.g. applewood seasoning)

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Spray the slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray or line with a disposable liner.
02 - Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker with the fat side facing up.
03 - Rub 2 tablespoons of seasoned salt evenly over the pork shoulder.
04 - Pour 1 cup of soda around the sides of the pork shoulder, avoiding direct contact with the seasoned salt.
05 - Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours or on high for 7 to 9 hours, until pork is tender and easily shredded.
06 - If desired, remove some excess liquid from the pot. Shred the pork with two forks, then stir in 28 ounces of barbecue sauce thoroughly.
07 - Turn the slow cooker to warm and stir occasionally while serving to maintain even heat.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Use a slow cooker of at least 6 quarts capacity to prevent overflow and allow even cooking.
02 - Cherry-flavored soda imparts a subtle fruity sweetness that enhances the pork's flavor.
03 - The pork shoulder is done when it easily shreds with two forks without resistance.
04 - Avoid stacking hot containers when freezing pulled pork; cool before freezing to ensure food safety.
