Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker with the fat side facing up.

Rub 2 tablespoons of seasoned salt evenly over the pork shoulder.

Pour 1 cup of soda around the sides of the pork shoulder, avoiding direct contact with the seasoned salt.

Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours or on high for 7 to 9 hours, until pork is tender and easily shredded.

If desired, remove some excess liquid from the pot. Shred the pork with two forks, then stir in 28 ounces of barbecue sauce thoroughly.

Turn the slow cooker to warm and stir occasionally while serving to maintain even heat.
