Crispy Wonton Taco Cups (Printer-Friendly)

Handheld wonton cups layered with seasoned beef, salsa, and cheese for a quick, tasty snack or meal.

# What You'll Need:

→ Meat and Seasoning

01 - 1 pound ground beef (80/20 or 90/10)
02 - 1 ounce packet taco seasoning
03 - ½ cup chunky salsa
04 - ½ tablespoon olive oil (optional, for lean meat)

→ Base

05 - 24 wonton wrappers

→ Cheese

06 - 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese

→ Optional Toppings

07 - Diced tomatoes
08 - Sour cream
09 - Diced red onion
10 - Chopped cilantro
11 - Taco sauce

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Preheat the oven to 400°F and spray a 12-cup muffin pan with nonstick spray.
02 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat for about 1 minute, if using. Add ground beef and crumble it as it browns. Drain excess grease once cooked.
03 - Stir in taco seasoning and chunky salsa into the browned beef. Remove from heat and set aside.
04 - Place two wonton wrappers overlapping in each muffin cup to cover the bottom and sides, or use one large wrapper if it sufficiently covers the cup with some overhang.
05 - Spoon approximately 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture into each wonton cup, using a spring-loaded scoop for ease.
06 - Bake uncovered for 10 minutes until the wonton wrappers are toasted and lightly browned.
07 - Immediately top each baked cup with shredded cheese so it melts, then add preferred optional toppings before serving.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - If using lean ground meat, olive oil enhances browning, otherwise it can be omitted.
02 - Do not add water with taco seasoning; salsa provides sufficient moisture.
03 - Leftover taco cups should be cooled completely and stored in an airtight container to keep wrappers crisp.
04 - Reheat in oven at 375°F for 10-12 minutes or air fryer at 360°F for 6-8 minutes to avoid sogginess.
