Meanwhile, heat a sauté pan over medium heat. Add ground beef and diced onion. Cook, breaking up the meat with a spatula, for about 7 minutes or until the beef is no longer pink. Drain excess fat.

Stir in taco seasoning mix and 0.5 cup water into the cooked beef and onions. Simmer and stir for 2 to 3 minutes until mixture is well combined and thickened.

Remove the baked tater tots from the oven and transfer to a large serving dish. Spread seasoned beef evenly over the tater tots.

Layer nacho cheese sauce, sliced cherry tomatoes, jalapeños, and chopped cilantro over the beef-covered tater tots.
