Slow Cooker Garlic Butter Steak (Printer-Friendly)

Juicy steak bites cooked low and slow with garlic, butter, and savory gravy. Perfect with mashed potatoes.

# What You'll Need:

→ Steak Bites

01 - 900 g sirloin steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
02 - 1 teaspoon kosher salt
03 - 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
04 - 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

→ Aromatics & Gravy

05 - 1 medium sweet onion, finely diced
06 - 5 garlic cloves, minced
07 - 250 ml unsalted beef stock
08 - 28 g au jus gravy mix (1 packet)
09 - 85 g unsalted butter, sliced
10 - fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Place sirloin steak pieces into a large bowl. Sprinkle with kosher salt and black pepper, tossing to ensure all sides are coated.
02 - Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add half the vegetable oil. Working in batches, sear the steak bites on all sides until browned—do not cook through. Add additional oil if needed between batches.
03 - Transfer seared steak bites to a 6-litre slow cooker. Add diced onion and minced garlic. Gently stir to distribute evenly.
04 - Pour unsalted beef stock over the meat mixture. Evenly sprinkle au jus gravy mix on top. Arrange slices of unsalted butter over the surface.
05 - Cover and cook on low for 6–8 hours or on high for 3–4 hours. Stir once an hour, if possible, to promote even cooking.
06 - Gently stir the steak bites before serving. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired. Serve warm with desired side such as mashed potatoes or rice.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - For optimal tenderness, cook slowly on the low setting. Searing the steak enhances flavour and colour but can be omitted if pressed for time.
02 - Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or frozen for up to 3 months.
03 - Thyme or rosemary sprigs can be added for variation in flavour.
