Soft cookies packed with M&M’s and chocolate chips, perfect for Christmas.

# What You'll Need:

→ Base

01 - 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
02 - 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
03 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar
04 - 1 large egg
05 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - 1 tablespoon golden syrup or substitute (maple, rice, coconut, or corn syrup)
07 - 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
08 - 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
09 - 1/4 teaspoon salt

→ Mix-ins

10 - 1 cup chocolate chips, divided
11 - 1 cup M&M’s, divided

# Steps to Follow:

01 - In a large bowl, beat softened butter with brown and white sugars until pale and fluffy using an electric mixer.
02 - Add egg, vanilla extract, and syrup to the mixture. Beat until just combined.
03 - Mix in flour, baking soda, and salt. Add more flour by the tablespoon if dough is too sticky to handle.
04 - Gently fold in half of the chocolate chips and M&Ms using hands or a spatula without overmixing.
05 - Scoop 18–20 tablespoon-sized dough balls for standard cookies or 12 double-sized balls for jumbo cookies. Place 3 inches apart on baking sheets.
06 - Press remaining chocolate chips and M&Ms on top. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 11–12 minutes until edges are golden.
07 - Remove from oven while centers appear soft. Let cookies cool on baking sheet for 30 minutes to fully set.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Avoid overbaking to maintain soft centers; cookies will firm up as they cool.
02 - Use syrup to enhance moisture and chewiness without altering flavor.
