Dr Pepper Steak Bites (Printer-Friendly)

Tender steak bites cooked low and slow in a rich, sweet and savory Dr Pepper sauce.

# What You'll Need:

→ Beef

01 - 1 lb sirloin steak bites (alternatively London broil, chuck roast, or stew beef)

→ Sauce

02 - 12 fl oz Dr. Pepper soda
03 - 3 tbsp honey
04 - 2 tbsp brown sugar, packed
05 - 1/3 cup BBQ sauce
06 - 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
07 - 3 cloves garlic, minced
08 - 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

→ Thickening agent

09 - 2 tsp cornstarch
10 - 2 tbsp cold water

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and quickly sear the steak bites for a few seconds on each side until lightly browned.
02 - In a mixing bowl, whisk together Dr. Pepper, honey, brown sugar, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and black pepper until fully combined.
03 - Place seared steak bites into the crockpot and pour the prepared sauce evenly over the meat.
04 - Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or until the steak bites are tender and easily pierced with a fork.
05 - If the sauce is thin after cooking, mix cornstarch with cold water to make a slurry, then stir it into the crockpot and cook on high for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
06 - Serve the steak bites hot over mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or in slider buns with the sauce spooned on top.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Quick searing locks in flavor and adds color despite slow cooking.
02 - Choose preferred cut for different tenderness: lean sirloin or melt-in-mouth chuck/stew beef.
03 - Adjust BBQ sauce variety to tailor sweetness, smokiness, or spiciness.
04 - Sprinkle red pepper flakes if desired to introduce a subtle heat balance.
05 - Store leftovers in an airtight container refrigerated up to 3 days; reheat gently.
