Crock Pot Round Steak Gravy (Printer-Friendly)

Slow-cooked round steak in a rich brown gravy with garlic and onions, perfect for an easy comforting dinner.

# What You'll Need:

→ Beef

01 - 2 pounds boneless beef round steak, cut into 8 thin slices

→ Seasonings

02 - ½ teaspoon salt
03 - ½ teaspoon black pepper
04 - 4 cloves garlic, minced

→ Vegetables

05 - 1 medium sweet onion, thinly sliced

→ Liquids and Thickeners

06 - 1 packet brown gravy mix
07 - 2 cups unsalted beef stock
08 - 3 tablespoons cornstarch

# Steps to Follow:

01 - Season both sides of the beef slices evenly with salt and black pepper.
02 - Place half of the sliced sweet onions and half of the minced garlic into the bottom of a 6-8 quart slow cooker.
03 - Arrange the seasoned beef slices over the onions and garlic, then sprinkle the brown gravy mix evenly on top.
04 - Distribute the remaining sliced onions and minced garlic over the beef, then pour in the unsalted beef stock.
05 - Cover and cook on low heat for 7 to 8 hours, or on high heat for 5 to 6 hours until the beef is tender.
06 - In the final 30 minutes, remove approximately ½ cup of cooking liquid. Whisk in the cornstarch until smooth, pour the mixture back into the slow cooker, increase heat to high, and cook uncovered until the gravy thickens, about 30 minutes.
07 - Stir to combine and serve immediately, preferably over mashed potatoes or rice.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - For best results, use a slow cooker with a 6-8 quart capacity to accommodate the ingredients and ensure even cooking.
02 - Cooking on low for 8 hours yields more tender meat but the recipe can be safely cooked up to 10 hours on low if needed.
03 - Leftovers may be stored airtight in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
