Air Fryer Calamari Crispy Bites (Printer-Friendly)

Crispy calamari rings with golden panko coating, made fast with an air fryer and served with your favorite dips.

# What You'll Need:

→ Calamari

01 - 1 pound calamari rings, fresh or thawed from frozen

→ Breading Mixture

02 - 3/4 cup Italian seasoned panko breadcrumbs
03 - 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
04 - 1 teaspoon kosher salt
05 - 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

→ Egg Wash

06 - 1 large egg

→ Optional Seasonings

07 - 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning, optional

# Steps to Follow:

01 - If using frozen calamari rings, thaw to room temperature. Pat dry thoroughly with paper towels to eliminate excess moisture.
02 - Set up three shallow bowls: one with flour, salt, black pepper, and optional Italian seasoning; one with a beaten egg; and one with seasoned panko breadcrumbs.
03 - Dredge each calamari ring first in the flour mixture, shaking off excess. Dip into the beaten egg, then coat thoroughly in breadcrumbs.
04 - Place breaded calamari rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd; cook in batches if necessary.
05 - Cook at 360°F for 6 to 8 minutes until golden brown and crisp. Adjust time for subsequent batches if needed.
06 - Remove from air fryer and cool for 2 minutes. Serve with lemon wedges, a sprinkle of chopped parsley, and your choice of dipping sauces.

# Extra Suggestions:

01 - Ensure calamari is dry before breading to achieve maximum crispiness.
02 - Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket for even air circulation and consistent browning.
03 - Cooking times may vary based on air fryer model and ring thickness, so check for golden color and tenderness.
